Ithaca Children's Garden

RMLA has been working with the Ithaca Children's Garden for the past 5 years as a garden designer, board member and site committee volunteer. In 2002 I prepared a Conceptual Garden Master Plan with cost estimates that provided the information needed for a successful $250,000 State Environmental Bond Act grant for the first phase of the garden. In 2004 I led a design team with artist Vicky Romanoff and wetland designer Don Ferlow to design the Turtle Mound and Wetland Habitat Garden (see below). We found sculptor Bo Atkinson who designed and constructed the incredible concrete turtle, named Gaia, during the summer of 2005. This year I prepared a sketch plan for the Growing Gardens, which is now under construction, and worked with nurseryman and ecologist Dan Segal of the Plantsman Nursery to plant a creekside and meadow planting.
